One of the oldest advise in the history of mankind, probably, is don’t trust your gut.  Any decision making must be based on properly thought pros and cons.

I, though, always rely on my gut.  My decision most of the time based on what I strongly feel or believe in.

Is it okay? Is it work well?  I don’t know and I’m not bother to find out.  When bad thing happen for example, I rarely look back and think “this happen probably due to my choices in the past” but I’m more like “well, shit happen”.

This post isn’t about me asking you to trust your gut.  In fact if you ask me for advise, I will say “Don’t trust your gut”.

The thing about trusting your gut is that, you must never feel regret.  Life is full of surprise, the thing you thought probably the best for you, might be not and vice versa.  Sure you can calculate all sort of thing, and make well thought decision but in the end the result still up in the air.

Regret won’t do you good, but always expect the worst possible outcome.  In the end your life is all about choices you made, and you must own it.

Today, I made a decision which very much will affecting my future, heavily.   I come to the decision solely based on gut.

What is it?  I will not write here, maybe I will write about it in full later on when I realize what kind of shit I get into.

In this inter-connected world everyone have a voice, and that’s a good thing.

You could go to any platform and voice out your opinion.  You could do it anywhere, anytime at anyplace.  Good isn’t?  Yes.

In all goodness there always will be “but”, so here come…

But, you mustn’t forget that your opinion is from you for you.  Whatever you opinion is about, to whom it was directed, in the end the opinion only applicable to you.  If someone agree with you, great but don’t even think that they should.

They have no obligation to do so.

Recently, I watched a film called Gifted.  It was decent movie, worth to check it out.  There is one scene where one character asked the other character whether or not the character believe in God. (I try to be as vague as possible to avoid spoiler so bear with me)

I might disagree with the the character view on God, but what come after is something that I can appreciate.  The character said (in my own word, because I just watch it one time and can’t remember it fully – will update once it available on internet)

“I have my opinion, but why should I cloud your opinion with mine”

While watching it, my mouth keep muttering “true, true”.  What the character meant is that, just because I have my opinion doesn’t mean that I should impose my opinion toward other.  They have right to form their own opinion which could be totally different than mine.

For me it become messy when so many voice out opinion but become so offensive or defensive when someone else have totally different opinion.

You are wrong, therefor I’m right.  I’m right, therefor you are wrong.

The truth is, okay not the truth, but in my opinion when it come to opinion it was never about right or wrong, because that opinion is meant for you and only you.

So you can take it in anyway you like just be open that there always someone who will disagree with you and THAT’S OKAY.

So go out there and share your opinion as much as you like but don’t be a dick about it.

Elevator Etiquette

I’m in process of importing my old post from my old blog to this new one.  It will take a while since I do it manually, sure wordpress have a tool for it, but meh, I more on adventurous side.

To compensate, I will write a quick, short and witty post as a conversation starter.  Okay scratch witty, maybe salty.

For any working class hero, you can’t avoid elevator.  Unless your office is just one floor, lucky bastard.  So, elevator can’t be avoided even how fit you are.  No, I don’t care you are full marathoner, you still use elevator, don’t you?

To set the context right, my office building in total have 9 Floors, I work on the 5th floor.  Pretty nice spot if you asked me.  In dealing with the elevator I have my own etiquette which I follow and hope by writing this, other will follow as well.  Sure no one will read it but man can have a dream, right?

So here are my elevator etiquette;

  1. Only use elevator if your destination is at least 3 level upward or downward, else use the stair you silly goose.   Unless of course if you have health condition.
  2. If someone already push the button for the floor that is one level up/down from your floor – DON’T GO TO YOUR FLOOR.  Just use stair to cover the one level different.  Unless if someone else push it, so you just silently judging that guy.
  3. If you are on phone, either don’t go in or off the call.  No other option.
  4. If you coming from long walk and a bit sweaty, use stair, I know it tiring, but come on.  Even if you smell perfectly fine.
  5. DON’T BE A BUTTON HOARDER, push your floor and stay away.
  6. Hold the door, hodor, only if someone requested, or someone near.  If the person is still far away don’t hold the it and expecting them to run.  That is not kindness, just a goddamn punishment.

The list is still growing, but in the end it all come to common sense.  Ain’t life like that as well?
