We always read or heard about treat the blog as a business, and it is true. If you want to success you should consider your blog as a business and you’re the entrepreneur. You not only should treat blog as business, but you should make yourself as an entrepreneur so that you can properly conduct your business which is blog. In my class I learn about entrepreneur, and when I read some of their basic characteristic and I believe some of it also also imply to blogger, here some of the characteristic of entrepreneur have that you as blogger should have too -
1. Desire for Responsibility – Blogger should feel very responsible with whatever happen to their blog, whether it good or bad. You yourself should make sure that your blog is quality enough so that people can gain something from your post. You shouldn’t hope for other people to do everything for your blog, since it is your blog you are responsible for it.
2. Confidence in their ability to succeed - Like entrepreneur to start a business they should confidence in their ability because business not for low-minded people or they will fail, maybe blog not in that level but at least you should know what you’re doing. From the first point you should at least create a goal what you want to get from your blog and the goal should be something that you know you can do it. Without confidence when think goes wrong you think blog is not for you and you stop without try it again and again.
3. Desire for Immediate Feedback – This one maybe you think not right for you, but for me yes its true, I need immediate feedback, I need to know how well my blog doing but you can’t overdo it, you should concern about your traffic and stat etc but you can’t become so maniac with it especially when your blog is still new like mine. Be moderate, if you think you traffic is low don’t down heart with instead find way to increase your traffic, one simple way is write good post. Immediate feedback also can a comment, I love people comment on my post and I think it also the wish for immediate feedback.
4. High level of energy – When you just start a blog, you need to work harder than pro blogger.. they already have strong and big reader base, but you and me start with zero, so we should work harder than them. You should actively leave “good” comment on other blog, actively build your connection, actively writing new post and actively improve you blog and it all need energy and also time. So you should make sure you have that energy to actively do everything that is needed. When you already have good numbers of your readership so at that time you can relax a bit.
5. Future orientation – You should worry more about future than past, you must think tomorrow “how I want to improve my blog”, “How I many traffic I want to add” and etc, let say yesterday you get 5000 unique visitor, and today you just have 1000 unique visitor, you shouldn’t go “It okay at least I have 5000 yesterday”, you shouldn’t think like that, instead you should concern what the number for tomorrow and how you can get back that 5000. Other than that you should always looking the opportunities to create more topic that could be a “boom” in future.
6. High degree of commitment – Refer to the point #4 to do all that you need to have commitment to your blog. You should spend more of your free time for your blog, update it, reply comment, read other blog so that people notice you and such, you also need to make sure that you update your blog often and/or make sure the level of your post quality is high in each post. Commitment is very much needed folk.
7. Flexibility – be flexible is somewhat important in blogging, and most of it concern with expand your blog. Most easy example is hosting. At first you may have no problem with hosting whatsoever, but then your visitor keep increase and increase, hosting become your problem like bandwidth and security or something similar. You blog start to down in performing because traffic is so high, at that time you should quickly change your hosting to better one, from shared hosting to semi-dedicated or even better. Flexibility could be better if you already applying the #5 point.
Here the summary of characteristic of entrepreneur that blogger should have, you should responsible for anything that happen to your blog, confidence in your ability to become a problogger, curious about what now happen in your blog but not too maniac with it, actively do blogging and connected with other blogger, think about tomorrow more than yesterday, committed to your blog and finally should be flexible with ever-changing situation.
Have no idea for comment?
1. What above characteristic that you think you have? and How it help you to become better blogger?
2. If you have other points that you think should be on the list please share it.
3. What is the most important characteristic that you think blogger should have?
4. What you think about this post? In term of idea and writing.

Commitment is a big word, but nevertheless it is true. You should put it all out in the beginning so that the blog could survive long term.
For new blogs, getting a large reader base is the hardest. You must know what your readers want from your blog, rather than writing to your heart content. A good content is content that suits your readers, not your needs.

How about consistency and patience? We all know that a blog needs 6 to 12 months to start making income and I see many bloggers out there quit blogging just in first 3 months.

i believe to blogger connection. i know it’s kinda hard for a new blogspot blogger to be accepted by others especially by own domain blogger but for me, i think we have to threat them well as long as they post a good entry. but i cant give more if they just keep posting their lunch, their dinner everyday…..

i don’t mind of they using blogger or own domain.. like you say if their content is good it always be good, but one thing i dislike about usual blogger blog.. they turn off open comment.. some of it only accept comment from who use blogger.. come on.. open a bit.. wordpress user is not evil.

I think another two important points are discipline and consistency. If you thinking about blogging for money, you have to be discipline in your work and should write consistently. Don’t be a stat holic and always believe you can do thing better than your online competitor. All your plan should base on a minimum 3 month basis, no matter it is traffic or backlink or what so ever.

You changed theme? It looks like Thesis but it is not. I am not a entrepreneur-like blogger and non-profit blogging is my style
